Moving into Flight

As we prepare to film Feast this weekend, I’ve actually been looking more into the elements that will go into filming Flight–the final film. We’re thinking there’ll be some projections mapped (our horizon and landscape lines, perhaps) on both our pyramid structure and costumes. I’ve been wading my way through the vortex that is Adobe After Effects and the much kinder MadMapper to prepare for this. Amazing things have been done with projection mapping in the last few years; it’s gaining popularity with advertising and particularly on architecture.

MFA Opening!

May 2nd was the Digital Arts and New Media MFA show. So much fun! Wonderful live performance by our birds–great for performers, costumers, and film artists to check out what we’ll need to tweak this week before we film Feast. Eve’s Breathe/Chicken & Coyote installation in the light lab looked really good as well–loved seeing the reactions by those immersed in the space, particularly to the jarring sounds. Little sleep, but many mini cheesecakes and glasses of wine were had.

Also–I didn’t get any usable photos with my phone, but Athena as the owl was amazing. Costume and mask by Melanya & whoever worked with her in the Prototype Lab–see photos on her WordPress.

April 3, 2013

My first foray into costuming for Feast & Flight–several types of beautiful birds (magpies, ravens, vultures, and an owl) as interpreted by Eve and the team.
